Welcome to my new website!
Fundamental to being human is movement. We are born to move. We move at varying speeds in pushing, pulling , twisting , bending , reaching , accelerating to full speed and decelerating to a stop. In addition we need to balance on one or two feet to maintain a sense of where we are in relation to the ground and the horizon. Attached to these fundamentals are all the variations of recreational activities we do. Most important Is how we organise, prioritise, optimise and exercise our movement capacity as we age.
Person-centred and contextual, I help individuals unlearn unhelpful movement patterns, relearn movement fundamentals and to integrate new movements that are meaningful to them and their activities of daily living. A human with a comprehensive movement “language and lexicon” has an arsenal of movement variability skills at their disposal and will be ready to meet any changes of their environment. No single movement practice or exercise philosophy is superior to any another. As long as a body loads or stresses its musculoskeletal and cardiovascular systems in support of life and function there are just variations and individual selections of movements based on personal preferences. Movement variability is therefore a key tenet in my approach to “prehabilitation”, injury rehabilititation and optimising a patients movement potential. Movement and exercise are meant to be helpful, meaningful, enjoyable.
